Travel Advisory
All persons entering Ghana must have a valid passport or Travel Document establishing the identity of the holder.
Visa Exemptions
The following categories of persons are exempt from entry visa requirements to Ghana:
- ECOWAS Citizens: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo.
- Holders of Diplomatic, Service, or Official Passports: Brazil, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong (SAR), Iran, Namibia, Egypt.
Note: These exemptions are valid for a period not exceeding 90 days. - Selected Nationalities: Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Zimbabwe.
- Children with ordinary passports accompanying accredited diplomatic, service, or official passport holders from Ghana or South Africa.
International Organizations
Holders of passports from the following organizations are visa exempt:
- Regional Economic Communities in Africa
- African Economic Community
- United Nations and its Specialized Agencies
- The World Bank
- African Development Bank
Air-Side Transit
All persons in direct airside transit are exempt from visa requirements.
Refusals
The following persons may be denied entry:
- Prohibited immigrants
- Persons without visible means of support
- Undesirable persons
- Persons flagged by health authorities
Important Immigration Notice
- The possession of appropriate documents does not guarantee entry.
- Travelers may be refused entry if they fall under prohibited categories.
- The Government of Ghana is not financially liable for any repatriation.
Additional Guidelines
Immigrant Quota: Visitors may not accept employment unless it's within an authorized immigrant quota. Applications must be sent to:

Investors: Must register with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and provide a supporting letter for any visa or quota extension.
Mining Sector: Investors must register with the Minerals Commission. Applications must include a supporting letter confirming status.
Professionals: Doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, etc. must register with their professional bodies in Ghana before practicing. They must submit qualification documents for registration eligibility.
